Jorge Brito
Bass + Vocals, Co-Director
Jorge is a versatile musician and educator who transitioned from a medical career to music. After earning a Doctor of Medicine degree in Mexico and completing a medical internship in Cuba, where he also studied percussion, he moved to the United States to pursue his musical passion. He earned a degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University, specializing in double bass, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Technology at Southern Utah University.
An active performer across the Midwest and East Coast, Jorge has played double bass, electric bass guitar, and traditional instruments like the Mexican leona with groups including Costas Colectivo and Tierra Roja, spanning Cuban son, Salsa, Latin music, and traditional Mexican son genres. He has also performed with regional orchestras, including the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Since 2020, Jorge has taught in Illinois school district CUSD303. He resides in St. Charles, and helps organize the annual local Fiddle Fest.
